After the charity run in May, we met with the principal Thulani from our partner school Zama Educare to find out how we could best support the school with the collected donations as a first step. As with Pitter Patter, Zama also had no sanitary facilities, which is why it quickly became clear that we would like to use some of the donations to address this problem.
Thulani told us where the toilets could best be installed and we then obtained a quote from the construction company in Cape Town.
Construction work started at the beginning of July and two weeks later, three toilets and the doors had been installed. This was the first step towards providing the school with basic hygiene facilities! In the end, the entire work cost
cost CHF 2,040 and it was absolutely worth it! Thulani and the children are overjoyed and so are we!
By installing toilets, we can promote the health of the children and ultimately ensure that they can learn better in a pleasant environment.
